Using Historical Newspapers - Many newspapers have been preserved and are available to us. Access is not always easy, but it is possible. This class will explore where to find these papers, how to access them, and show many examples of what can be found to aid the genealogist.
Building Advanced Skills through Successful Research Strategies - Many times our research
is unsuccessful and frustrating when there are no results after searching for
hours, days, months and even years. This class will focus on helpful methods to
increase your effectiveness through time saving tips that produce results.
Don Anderson - The ABC's of DNAGordon Rouse
Family Search - The class will cover an overview of the family tree section such as different tree views, help center, find, what’s new, icon tips, and more. Then we will go to an ancestors’ detail page and show how to add or edit information, add family members, search and merge duplicate files, fix mistakes, use record hints, add sources and memories. From there we will go over the search records section and show ways to make it easier to search the record collections.
Photos and Family Search Memories - This class will cover the
process to prepare your family photos, documents, and stories to upload on
familysearch.org. We will explain how to scan, crop, and do other simple fixes
to photos to prepare them for upload (Grandma, and Grandpa would want to look
their best). Then we will go over how to upload them to familysearch.org. and
“tag” the people in the photo to link them to your family
tree members. From there we will work on getting your documents and stories in
your memories file. Sometimes after hours of collecting names and dates it
starts to become just more input and we can forget that these were real people.
That’s why photos and stories are important. They help us “put a face to the
name”.
